［EN/JP］Kimono repair／着物のほつれ直し
It is a post by tag of #needleworkmonday after a long time.
I love knitting, but I only have knitting needles in autumn and winter, so recently I just have a needle when sewing Haneri to Nagajuban.
The other day I found a part that is fraying when I tried to wear a kimono(;ﾟдﾟ)
It is a silk kimono sewn waith silk thread, but it seems that sewing thread is getting weaker as it is an old one.
In addition to that, I decided to fix it while checking for loose parts.
Two years ago, when my teacher told me how to sew cotton kimono, I remembered that I was using polyester thread which is superior in strength, and decided to use polyester thread again.
In terms of strength silk thread does not seem to be a chemical fiber.
And when sewing kimono, Kukedai is also a necessity.
In work where there are many standing and sitting, considerable force is applied to the knees and the parts of the kimono.
I carefully checked and sewn the area where the thread was weakened.
Now I can work in the tea room with confidence.
I like sewing, so sewing is a fun time.

編み物は大好きだけど秋冬にしか編み針を持たないので、最近の針仕事は長襦袢に半衿を付けるくらいです。
先日、着物を着ようとした時ほつれている箇所を発見しました(;ﾟдﾟ)
絹糸で縫われた正絹の着物ですが、古い物なので縫い糸が弱ってきているようです。
ほかにも、ほつれそうな箇所がないか確認しながら直すことにしました。
以前一級和裁士に教えて頂きながら綿紬の着物を縫った時に、強度に優れているポリエステルの糸を使ったことを思い出し、今度もポリエステルの糸にしました。やはり強度の点では化学繊維には敵わないようですね。
そしてこのくけ台も必需品です。
座布団を乗せて座ります。
お茶室での仕事は立ったり座ったりが多いので、着物の膝やお尻の部分にかなり力が掛かります。
念入りにチェックして、糸が弱っている所を縫い直しました。
これで安心してお茶室の仕事が出来ます。
針仕事は好きなので、縫い物をするのはとても楽しい時間です。

くけ台いい物をお持ちですね！
私は机にネジで固定するタイプの物を使っていますが時々ズレます^_^;
２年程前に購入しました。自分の体重で抑えていますので、全く動きません。私の体重が唯一役に立つ使い方です😄

This is "Kukedai" which is a tool to use when sewing kimonos.
Use this to tension the fabric tightly and sew.
It’s so great to be able to fix and repair your own garments. It saves us a lot of money and in the end we can be proud that we did it all on our own. So glad you were able to do so :)
Kimono is my work clothes now. Silk clothing is more comfortable than polyester, so I think I want to repair it.

昔はどこの家庭にもあったのでしょうが、今はほとんど見かけないですね。私も２年前に着物の縫い方を教えて頂く時に、和裁士の方から購入しました。

くけ台を知っている方の方が珍しいと思います。『素敵な和の女性』というのは誤ったイメージですね。即、払拭して下さい。
