Numerology or Gamattria is a science in the ancient hebrew language. Words associate with each other. For instance the name Elokim has the same letters adding to nature Hatevah (nature). The worship of weather was an idolatrous practice that still goes on today.
These names tell us the source is always back to the one (Aleph)
Very interesting indeed sirbearbear. I've never heard of the science of Gamattria. What do they do in or with this science, study the Hebrew language?
From my limited knowledge, science is treated as divine and it can only be embraced rather than shunned. Science are numbers and numbers are sacred in hebrew.

Ok.. for instance the word in Hebrew EMET is אמת = Each letter has a numerical value. If you add each letter together you get 441. There are multiple levels to gematria but here is one. The word EMET means TRUTH in Hebrew. It is perfect because it is the opposite of false.
if you add 4+4+1 = 9
9 is a perfect number.
Multiply any number by 9 and you will get back to 9.
Example 9x3 = 27 (2+7=9)
Example 9x4 = 36 (3+6=9)
Etc..
3x2 = 6

Ancient knowledge and science borrow from all traditions in history. For example we attribute Isaac Newton to laws of physics, but many traditions and 'science' were discovered long before it was published officially. The only way to describe discoveries like this would be quantum in nature. That and a culmination of all the equations together and the answer along with it. Probably no human can do this; not with the help of some AI.
