Nuclear Threats, Military Exercises Resume, North Korea and Cuba Meeting!

Just on time before some high-level talks between the US and North Korea, nuclear threats are making a return. CNN reported that "An official with North Korea's Foreign Ministry issued a veiled threat Friday, warning that Pyongyang could restart "building up nuclear forces" if the US does not ease the crippling sanctions levied on North Korea." Pompeo had this to say:

"We know with whom we're negotiating. We know what their positions are. And President Trump has made his position very clear: no economic relief until we have achieved our ultimate objective,"

Just after this, today on Monday, South Korea and North America have started their joint military exercises which were suspended back in June. The Guardian had this to report:

About 500 South Korean and American marines will take part in the drills on Monday, according to Yonhap news, which were previously indefinitely suspended in June after Donald Trump met North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore. Pyongyang often bristles at joint US-South Korean military exercises, claiming they are provocations directed at the North, and officials hoped the suspension would encourage talks.

Negotiations over the North’s nuclear program have largely stalled, with Pyongyang demanding sanctions relief after halting weapons tests and Washington repeatedly saying the restrictions would remain in place until North Korea is nuclear-free.

Pompeo was set to meet Kim Yong-chol, an adviser to Kim Jong-un, this week in New York. But it remains unclear if the small-scale military drills will complicate talks. Decisions over major military exercises for next year are expected to be made by the end of the year.

What's more strange is that today, Kim Jong Un is to meet with Cuban President on a matter of "crucial issues of common concern". These deal with international situations that some believe have to do with the USA. Cuba, being one of few North Korean allies, has had their fair share of standoffs with the US, so there has been a concern as to why the two have met. The following is a statement shared between the two leaders during a dinner held for the Cuban President.

Giving a toast at the banquet, Kim said his meeting with the Cuban leader "marked a watershed in demonstrating the will to carry forward forever the friendship between the two countries".

In response, Diaz-Canel said he was willing to "meet all challenges by the hostile forces" while carrying forward their "traditional friendly and cooperative relations", according to KCNA.

While it is important to view what is going on between these two it should also be remembered that if the US strikes North Korea and any part of Chinese territory is affected by their attacks, China has previously said they will have no choice but to retaliate, giving them the excuse to attack the US with their allies. The question is of course, will any of it happen? We won't endorse a definitive answer as those can make anyone look bad, but it is important to look at the world stage and see multiple countries turning away from the US as Trump hammers countries with sanctions and tariffs. As multiple countries are dropping the USD in trade for gold, and while multiple countries are showing off their military against the US. Now is a very good time to start paying attention and making your own judgements on these situations. Please post your comments in the replies section below.

Have a very nice day!

What is the "ultimate objective"? Most likely it is the complete overthrow of North Korean regime. You know the U.S. has secret motives.

Things with Iran are also not looking so promising for the U.S. at the moment.

It's not going to end well either way.

I'm sure those military exercises make Kim very nervous
