Russia shoots down armed drone targeting Khmeimim air base
DAMASCUS, SYRIA (8:45 A.M.) - A drone carrying explosives was downed by Russian air defense systems while approaching the Russian forces in the coastal air base of Khmeimim, Russian military said.
The drone is the 4th to be downed in 3 days. Earlier, the Russian military has shot down dozens of armed drones operated by jihadi militants in northern Latakia and Idlib province.
The Syrian and Russian militaries are mulling a full-scale offensive against terror groups in Idlib which is fully controlled by Qaeda-linked militants.
