Older than the Sun: a giant hurricane was found in space

Astronomers from the US and Germany discovered a two-million-light-year-old whirlwind in space.

This happened during the study of the spiral gas system from the Perseus galaxy cluster, which is one of the largest objects in the universe

"The age of the cold hurricane" is estimated at five billion years, that is, it is older than the solar system.Observations helped to establish that the vortex is 50 million degrees Kelvin colder than the surrounding space.

It is assumed that the vortex was formed as a result of a collision of the Perseus cluster with a smaller cluster. In this case, the gravitational attraction of a large cluster attracts the rest to its center, as a result of which the gas began to swirl, forming a spiral structure with alternating cold and hot regions.
