Iran Nuclear Deal Cancelled: What's Happening Meow

Today Donald Trump announced the cancellation of the Obama era nuclear deal with Iran. For those of you who are surprised, you clearly haven't been following the Donald. He has said all along it is a terrible deal and he wanted out. Good or bad, at least he is keeping his word, something rare in politics.

It is quite clear that USA, Israel and Saudia Arabia don't like Iran. Israel has repeatedly attacked Iran in Syria and the countries are always exchanging harsh words. There is one thing I can agree with, the less nuclear bombs the better-especially in the war prone Middle East.

History has shown might is right and one can't blame Iran for wanting to defend itself. They are a relatively peaceful country and haven't invaded any neighbours for centuries. They aren't entirely innocent though, as they have supported foreign militants such as Hezbollah and their theocratic government has a questionable human rights record. It can be argued that Iran is much more peaceful than Saudia Arabia, USA or Israel, none of whom are peaceful or with clean human rights records themselves.

I think Iran has been trying to secretly develope nuclear bombs, Israel has very good intelligence and it makes sense for Iran to pursue that goal. Iran would be tough to invade, Israel, USA and Saudia Arabia have all threatened Iran and nuclear weapons would only make it more difficult for them. I don't think Iran could even be defeated in war without great costs, a devastating draft would likely be required.

Iran has faced sanctions before and now Russia and China are more able to prop it up. China and Russia are also selling more advanced weapons to Iran and I don't think Western sanctions will affect Iran as much as they have in the past. Iran will push to develope nuclear weapons and let the world know about it. Much like North Korea, Iran will use the weapons as a political tool to say 'keep your armies out and let's make a deal.'

Next time America strikes a deal with Iran, Iran is going to be in a much stronger position. They will likely have nukes, oil may be more valuable, they will have more advanced missiles and anti-aircraft capabilities. The time to make a new deal is now.
