Crypto News Flash #165: HTC Revealed Plans To Launch A Blockchain Powered Smartphone Later This Year !!
Blockchain-Powered Smartphones will definitely be the future for Smartphones. With the wide spread use of Blockchain by various mainstream companies, we would very much like to see the use of Blockchain in regular utilities.
As we all know that Smartphones have been an inseparable part of our lives and one can not imagine his/her life without smartphones. Smartphones and Internet made our lives easier than ever. But imagine if we could use Blockchain in our Smartphone as well. What if our Smartphones will be integrated with Blockchain in future?
Yes, it has started to become reality. Yesterday, HTC revealed its plan to launch a Blockchain-powered smartphone later in this year. This announcement was made by Phil Chen, the creator of HTC Vive, in ongoing Blockchain Consensus 2018.
Chen also revealed that the Blockchain powered smartphone will support multiple Blockchain including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Lightning Network and Dfinity Network. He said the company’s mission is to support the entire blockchain ecosystem in order to “help underlying protocols expand their base of dedicated nodes."
The Smartphone will be an Android device and will have an integrated Universal Cryptocurrency wallet as well as secure hardware enclave. As per the Source, Chen explained the following features of the phone:
"I want to see a world where the end consumers can truly own their data—browsing history, identity, assets, wallets, emails, messaging—without the need for central authorities."
Although the price or expected price hasn't been revealed by Chen, but he announced that company will take the crypto as a payment for this Blockchain powered smartphone.
Well, HTC is definitely not the first smartphone manufacturer to come up with this idea. SIRIN Labs has already developed and launched a Blockchain-based smartphone. Although, SIRIN smartphone is produced only in limited quantities for now.
Now, we'll see how people will react to HTC's Blockchain-powered smartphone.
