Dear Diary: I Am So Happy Today Because Of Another Telecommunications Player In My Country
Telecommunications giants PLDT-Smart and Globe, two oligarch telco companies in my country will soon have a competition that vows to resolve the slow Internet service in the country because of monopoly of Cellphone and Internet service by the aforementioned companies.
President Duterte is the one who asked the government body DICT to speed up the process of selecting the third telco player and the one that won the bid was the Udenna Corp. and China Telecom but the ones that didn't win the bid can still appeal but if the court won't consider their appeal, the above companies will be the ones that will be the competition by PLDT-Smart and Globe telecom.
This is such a good news for the people of the Philippines because soon we will get a much affordable and cheaper cellphone airtime and Internet rates. The current companies will be forced to either make tier services better or make them affordable or both.
The problem that will arise from this could be a monopoly of three companies which can happen because they can connive with each other and that is a possibility if the two current Telco companies are evil enough to force the new one to play with their game but I am optimistic that it won't happen and I will just wait until things will get better for the common people with regards with their basic rights to have a more affordable and reliable Internet service in my country.
