I think that Facebook and Twitter are just coerced by the US government. They are owned and people must be more vigilant @ura-soul
As far as I know, Twitter is owned by the alleged Saudi 'Royal' family.. But yes, ultimately, these systems may as well be owned by entities that own governments globally too.
