I hope his resignation does not result in a democrat taking his place, but in all honesty he is a RINO anyway.
How in the hell do you figure that he is a RINO? Paul Ryan wants to destroy the state via privatization and create a Randian hellscape. That is as Republican as fucking your cousin on top of a Confederate flag.

Resigning implies ending a term early to me. I'm fine with it. I think there should be term limits on Congress anyway.
I don't know if it was a big shock. I read articles stating that Paul Ryan had been thinking of resigning for a while, and given the passage of the tax bill, has taken this opportunity to take a break before a potential loss in the midterms or having to deal with Trump for two more years.
