Anders Olsson Permanent Representative of the Swedish Academy announced that the Swedish Academy postponed the awarding of the 2018 Nobel Literature award in an interview with Swedish News Agency TT News in Stockholm, Sweden May 3, 2018.
The Swedish Academy decided to postpone the submission of the Nobel Prize for Literature 2018 following a sexual and financial scandal among its members,
The award-winning Academy said in a statement on Thursday (3/5) that the prize for the year will be awarded in 2019. This prestigious institution took the decision at a weekly meeting on Wednesday (2/5) in Stockholm.
According to the Permanent Secretary of the Swedish Academy, Anders Olsson, the Academy feels the need to devote time to restoring public confidence in the Academy before announcing the next winner.

Olsson said the Academy acts "in honor of previous Nobel Prize laureate prize winners and the upcoming Nobel Foundation and the general public."
The debate over how to deal with the harassment scandal associated with the famous French photographer of French descent Jean-Claude Arnault, an important cultural figure in Sweden who is also the husband of poet Katarina Frostenson, caused a major split within the institution, of which 18 members were appointed to serve for life.
Seven members of the Academy went out or distanced themselves from the group that was very confidential.
