How much did the military spend yesterday? $7 million
No defense contracts were awarded on Monday as Columbus Day is a government holiday. Yesterday, there was only one award, to NAVMAR Applied Sciences involving three Small Business Innovative Research projects: anti-submarine sensors, high altitude sonobuoy emplacement, and an acoustic receiver.
Wouldn't it be great for our economy if we had more days like this, when the military only spent a paltry $7 million? That isn't a sarcastic question; government spending doesn't stimulate economic growth. It simply consumes resources diverted from the private sector, and often on projects the funding taxpayers don't support or on corrupt and even fraudulent projects of well-connected companies. Government spending is, in the majority of cases, a waste and in all cases a less efficient procurement of goods and services that free markets could better allocate.
Below are the contracts awarded by the Defense Department
October 9, 2018
totaling $7,707,370
Recent record daily spending: $30.1 billion on September 7, 2018
Navy - $7,707,370
NAVMAR Applied Sciences (Warminster, PA) $7,707,370
It's sad how much of this rings true:
