RE: How Dare You Trust Politicians to Save the World? [VIDEO]

If you follow any of the following YouTube channels, I suggest you stop because they are spreading disinformation and propaganda: PragerU, GWPF, Tony Heller, Sky News Australia, Heartland Institute, BlazeTV, Philosophical Investigations, and Friends of Science, among others, and some of them are in the pockets of the fossil fuel interests. It's true that the Earth's climate has been changing naturally in the past with hotter and colder periods and varying levels of CO2. That's stating the obvious. There are a number of factors that affect the climate including the sun's intensity, volcanoes, and greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and any combination of these factors are in play at any given time. The climate scientists have ruled out the sun and volcanoes as factors in the current warming period. Natural changes in the climate occur very gradually, over thousands or millions of years. And while it's true that the global temp has risen only about 2 deg F in 100 years, this is about 170 times faster than in any past natural warming period. This video misrepresents all of these facts.

IMO, the most important topic the video fails to mention are carbon tax and cap-and-trade programs that allow for the continued use of fossil fuels, but at reduced carbon emission levels. These programs are have been successful in a number of countries and a few US states. But, of course the cost to the fossil fuel industry is significant, which is why they are fighting desperately against them, including by putting out bogus videos like this one.

The facts are probably accurate, but the conclusions drawn from the facts are fraudulent and/or misleading, imo. That's how these liars create disinformation. For example, he states that increasing CO2 levels in the atmosphere resulted in increases in farm crop yields. Increasing CO2 in the atmosphere may indeed benefit plant life, but apparently, it's also causing global surface temps to rise. The two effects are not mutually exclusive are they? Better land use practices, fertilizers, and farm equipment probably helped as well. What do you think? He also attributes lower famine, poverty, illiteracy, longer human life expectancy, etc to the use of fossil fuels, which is misleading. All of these benefits were brought about by many factors. He talks about the high temps in the western US back in the 1920-1930. He seems to imply they should not be higher than current temps which are affected by global warming. This is absurd and there are several things to mention here. First, global warming affects the entire globe not just a region or even country like the US. Scientists attributed the higher temps in 1920-1930 to known natural causes, not due to global warming. The human-caused CO2 levels were very low until about 1950. That's when global warming started to cause erratic and abnormal weather. So the period before 1950 or so is not relevant to global warming effects. I could go on, but it's getting long. https://insideclimatenews.org/news/12032015/leaked-email-reveals-whos-who-list-climate-denialists-merchants-of-doubt-oreskes-fred-singer-marc-morano-steve-milloy
