MARKET REPORT 11/05/2018 by IMBI (Tech stocks lift Wall Street)

Dow Jones on six-day winning streak: Wall Street finished higher yesterday with all three major indices registering gains. For the Dow Jones, it was the sixth consecutive day of gains. The tech sector continued its positive momentum, as several stocks hit all-time highs, including Apple, Microsoft, NVIDIA, EA, Salesforce, Adobe and GoDaddy.

Asia seen mostly higher: The Hang Seng index was up more than 1%, joined by the Nikkei. In contrast, the China50 index registered losses.

Volatility expected for CAD: The monthly Employment Change and Unemployment Rate reports will be released in Canada at 12:30 GMT, potentially impacting the Canadian Dollar.

Bitcoin drops below $9,000: Volatility in crypto markets continued, as all top 10 cryptos reverted to losses over the past 24 hours. At the time of writing, Bitcoin was down nearly 4%, trading below the $9,000 mark.

Draghi to speak today: European Central Bank President Mario Draghi will be delivering a speech at the European University Institute in Florence, potentially generating volatility for the Euro.

Europe opens mostly higher: The FTSE and DAX opened 14 and 19 points higher respectively, while the CAC dipped 9 points.
