Rajya Sabha chairman dismisses notice of impeachment of Chief Justice of India

He said he had discussed with constitutional experts and lawmakers before taking a decision. They also took their views.

In the case of Justice Removal of 'Judas (Inquiry) Act' of 1968, it has been said that in case of such notice in the Rajya Sabha, the chairman can discuss with the concerned society and take or reject the notice considering the merits of the charges. If the notice is dismissed, the applicants will have no choice but to go to the Supreme Court. Congress leader Kapil Sibal gave the indication that he will do anything like that.

Venkaiah Naidu dismissed the notice this morning so that the Chief Justice can begin his own agaral work from the highest court in the morning.
