Putin worried over American biological weapons

in #news6 years ago

Russian president Vladimir Putin raised his concerns over potential biological warfare, accusing the United States of collecting Russian DNA samples for obscure purposes.

'Do you know that biological material is being collected all over the country, from different ethnic groups and people living in different geographical regions of the Russian Federation? The question is – why is it being done? It's being done purposefully and professionally. We are a kind of object of great interest.'

It might sound like tinfoil conspiracy material, but Putin is not known for making wild accusations or for opening his mouth without thinking – too experienced a statesman for such mistakes. According to Russian press reports, the practice is not new and has been fully documented by Russian secret services. Apparently, the scale of this DNA harvesting program is what triggered the alarm and made Putin send out a warning. Because it was a very clear warning and a thinly veiled threat.

'Let them do what they want, and we must do what we must.'

In other words, we know what you're up to and we will fight back.

Several prominent Russian officials were quick to elaborate on the president's cryptic statement. Franz Klintsevich, first deputy chairman of the Federation Council’s Committee for Defense and Security, said the practice was well-known, but had recentely aquired a 'shameless' scale, raising the possibility of the US preparing for 'biological war'.

'The President’s warning is very timely. Relevant agencies in the West should know that we are aware of their interest'.

In July, US government website FedBizOpps published a tender for the aquisition of Russian biological samples on behalf of the US Air Force Air Education and Training Command. Why would the US Air Force need Russian biological samples is anybody's guess. Specifically Russian, Ukrainina samples would not be considered the tender warned.
The tender specified they were looking for 12 RNA samples and 27 synovial fluid samples from Russian people. (I had to look this up, synovial fluid is the egg-like fluid found inside joints).
Three months ago, when the news broke, Russian expert Igor Nikulin, former member of the UN commission on biological weapons, argued that RNA samples can be used to develop biological weapons.

'New types of biological weapons are being developed. There’s nothing else that could possibly interest the military department. Most likely, they are weaponized viruses. The US is trying to develop various types of biological weapons specifically for specific carriers of this gene pool, and Caucasoids are needed since they constitute the majority of the population of our country.'

Few Western media outlets reported on Vladimir Putin's warning. Among them 'Newseek' which, in true MSM style, chose to ridicule the Russian president. Apparently, the only people who would be alarmed by the biological warfare scenario are social groups still suffering from Soviet-era paranoid fears. The most enlightened Russian citizens, 'Newsweek' tells us, made fun of Putin's statement and responded with memes.
Interesting enough, 14 years ago no one made fun of American claims that Saddam Hussein was busy manufacturing biological weapons. Those claims were not subject of ridicule, but rather a strong enough reason to go to war.
