You are very right to say people all over the world are fed up with the status quo. As I already said in another comment I followed the US elections closely and was happy to see Trump elected. I do hope he will be able to accomplish the things you tell your children about.
I just wanted to point out that all the talk about who's spending what on defence is mostly bullshit. It's not like the US has to spend that money for my sake, the US defence budget will still be the same no matter what us European spend on our own defence.
Part of Trump's appeal is his no nonsense businessman style, but what we prefer to ignore is that at some point in his career Trump went bankrupt...
So many people trust Trump it would be frightening to see him fail.
