That's really awesome that those people aren't going to be convicted for something that isn't a crime, but it does raise a few questions. If Marijuana is still illegal in New York but the mayor can just toss out the warrants, do we really have rule of law? How far can the mayor bend the law? I know it probably seems dumb to complain that people aren't going to be locked up for harmless fun but if the mayor can toss out a warrant for a drug crime, what can he and can he not toss out? I don't necessarily think he shouldn't be able to, but I think they're needs to be an objective standard that says when a warrant can be tossed. Who knows maybe there already is and I'm just ignorant.
