Benazole arrested 73 kg gold smugglers
A gold smuggler named Mohiuddin (35), with gold and 72 kg 759 grams (624 gold bars) gold was smuggled while trafficking in India through Shanpur border of Benapole.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members detained him from a place called Narikelbariya at around 9:30 pm on Thursday night. Detective Mohiuddin is the son of Mozammel Hossain of Shikarpur village under Sharsha upazila of Jessore district.
Jessore-49 Border Guard Battalion captain Lt. Colonel Mohammad Ariful Haque said that secret information was revealed that smugglers are preparing to smuggle a huge amount of gold in India. Based on such news at around 9:30 pm, a team led by BGB led by Havildar Mukul Hossain Pramanik of Shikarpur BGB camp.
On the border of Maine pillar-29 to 300 yards inside Bangladesh, Mohiuddin was arrested along with 624 bars and one Ramdas on trafficking in Narikelbariya. Other smugglers escaped from the scene after the presence of BGB.
Anticipated market value of detained gold is 35 million 77 lakh taka. The process of handing over the detained gold and Ramdas to Benapole Port Police Station was underway, he said.
