Container Deposit Scheme Australia

Recycle

Australia has recently started a great recycling scheme where you can take you bottles to these machines which take your empty bottles and are rewarded with credit for you efforts of about 10c per bottle. What this means is that there is a reward system encouraging recycling and a conscious effort to clean up towns as well as keeping the environment happy, saving animals habitats etc. when you do this you are credited digitally or on a docket redeemable in selected stores. This sounds great right?

Yeah, but there have been some people complaining that the effort does not match the reward for time one person claimed that the 30 minutes of making the trip, using the machine and getting back home was 30 minutes which resulted in a $12 reward. That was not including the time acquiring the the bottles etc. while the rewards may b=not be that great its still a great incentive to mindful of our environment and possibly be a good way for kids to make some pocket money.

The Repercussion

So we have a great incentive which keeps the community clean and rewards people for taking care of the environment, awesome. But in reality it is not what it has been marketed as being. Why is this ? Well what we have seen from this is a rise in the cost of drinks which is apparently to cover the cost of the manufacturers to cover costs of participating in the program which is roughly outlined in a Aussie news paper SMH report.

Essentially the cost of participating in this scheme outweighs the rewards from the scheme. Further, it places a cost on the initial buying of the product which means people who are not participating in the bottle collection and recycling are at greater loss, while those participating in are still losing.... just not as much. doe this sound like a good scheme now ?

This is what im seeing from all this:

  • Introduce a "great sounding" scheme rewarding people and cleaning the environment.
  • Scheme supposedly to force "drink manufacturers" to consider the packaging products and curb their behaviors.
  • Drink manufacturers increase drink prices outweighing return from participating in the scheme.
  • Those participating in scheme paying more for drinks but recoup some costs.
  • Non participants end up just paying more for drinks.
  • Drink manufacturers turn scheme to curb their behaviors into a profitable move by making consumers pay the difference and then some.
  • Marketing makes people think the design of the scheme is "good" scheme but its all a scam, con, hustle, hoodwink, gambit, flimflam, strategem and bamboozle.
  • The sheeple lap it up

Wake Up Sheeple

I have personally seen the cost rise of drinks first hand as i did some grocery shopping on the weekend. A bottle of drink that was previously 65 cents is now 80 cents. In this specific instance we are paying an extra 5c per drink if we do the cash in Container Deposit Scheme, if not participating we are paying an extra 15c in total. Either way we look at it WE the consumer are paying for the changes implemented by the Governments decision AND we are giving the drink manufacturers a nice pay rise.... and we think this is great... ? (facepalm).

Again we are given the illusion of choice while a decision is made for us that we have no choice in, the end result is the same. the powers that be have decided to do something and we have to live with the consequences and repercussions of their actions. Whats worse is that we are fooled into believing it is a great scheme, not that recycling is not good, but we are being conned and they are hiding behind the premise that it is for the good of mankind.... no, its good for the corporations looking to draw more blood from us to quench their insatiable thirst for profits.

This is a classic case of misdirection, I urge everyone to take the time to analyze exactly what is being implemented when schemes like this are being put forward. Question everything, make observations, do the math, think for yourself and don't just buy the rubbish that is shoveled in our faces. The powers that be rely on us being compliant and not examining these things beyond the surface value and their words telling us its all good.

Sort:

the only ones benefitting from this are drug addicts.

200 bottles = a free hit :(

we have people rummaging through our recycle bin most nights :(
