Hackers have stolen the health records of 1.5 million Singaporeans

With an unprecedented cyber attack, about 1.5 million people have been stolen in Singapore, including Lee Hsien Loong, the prime minister. An intentional, targeted and well-planned attack was targeted at patients who visited the clinic between May 2015 and this July 4, the Singaporean Ministry of Health said.
"It was not the work of hackers or criminal gangs," the ministry said in a statement quoted by Reuters. The aim of the attack was, according to the Office, to obtain details of the prime minister as well as of the medicines he used.

"The attackers have specifically and repeatedly focused on personal details about Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and information on medications that have been given to him as an outpatient patient," the ministry said. According to him, it is the biggest theft of personal data in the history of this island country in Southeast Asia.

Lee Hsien Loong came to the wider world when his country hosted a historic meeting of US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-una in June.
