News media is dying and it's their own fault, and they don't even understand why.

It's perfectly fine to write this article, in theory. I'm sure some people have assumed the show is "woke" due to the gender swapped lead, although personally (not having played the game), the swap doesn't mean much to me and the couple episodes I've seen really couldn't be described as "woke" in any serious sense.

However... The author of this article doesn't even pretend to be writing something unbiased here. Look at this sentence:

"In an exclusive interview with Refinery29 Australia, Purnell addressed the unfounded criticism surrounding the game's and TV show's political narrative."

Is it the journalist's job to tell me that the criticism is "unfounded" when reporting on an actor's rebuttal to criticism?

No. It is not.

It is the journalist's job to tell me -- assuming this is even newsworthy at all, which is debatable -- what the actor said, and what other people have said, and LET ME DECIDE if the criticism is "unfounded" or if it has merit.
