IMHO. This highlights a feature of steem that has become a double-edged sword and probably could use some rework (Steem Power delegation). SP Delegation is the feature that allows us more whales than we normally would have. Steemians can get together and essentially make a whale by delegating SP to a single user. Why? For very purpose expressed above. Circle jerking. Seriously...that's the only use case for it. I mean, intentions may be to give more influence to a group of people (kinda like how the electoral college works or ... socialism) to increase their gains collectively. Once they have created this beast of an influencer, they can go around curating content they like/dislike. Unfortunately, most of this content is their own. The intent was to give good content creators more rewards, but instead whales are loyal to their masters.
