Replacement bride

in #news6 years ago

Just like a shopkeeper replaces the product once you find out it is defective a family in southern India replaced the bride so that the groom doesn't have to go home without the bride.

Parents usually don't ask kids their choice when it comes to marriage. There are some parents who think their child is incapable of finding a perfect life partner with whom he/she can spend the rest of their life with. A family here in Karnataka thought their daughter would be happy with a groom of their choice and selected Kumar as the best suited person who would keep their princess happy. The engagement was fixed and so was the marriage.

The day of the marriage came and while the family was busy managing the guests, the bride eloped with her boyfriend and the groom stood at the venue devastated wondering what to do next. Groom's parents were adamant to take home a bride because they thought that without a bride their son would slip into depression.

The bride's family was ashamed of what their daughter has done and saw it as their responsibility to help the groom with a bride. The family went around convincing a relative who eventually agreed to tie the marital knot with the groom.

The new bride didn't even get few minutes to find out if he was the right man for her. But then, there are chances that they are made for each other and their marriage would be an ideal arranged marriage.

If the parents of the first bride were considerate enough to ask her her decision, this incident would never have happened. Most parents force their decisions on their kids which lead to many unfortunate events like this. I hope parents learn from this and see their kids as adults capable enough to take life decisions all by themselves.
