For We are Young and Free

This week a 9 year old school girl decided to not stand for the Australian National Anthem at her school.

She explained, pretty clearly I might add, that she didn't believe in the statement in the anthem "For We Are young and Free" which refers to our country being young.

She says that this part of the anthem clearly does not pay homage to the indigenous people that were here long before European Australians. Now there may be some out there saying that this is disgraceful behaviour, however, I think it's a great example of free speech working at its best.

She clearly has a strong belief about this and has decided to take a stance and I commend her bravery at such a young age.
