Seattle passes "Amazon tax"

After a long battle there was movement last night at the Seattle City council.

They passed a head tax that'll charge local employers $275 per employee, per hour worked, per year.

It's the highest tax of its kind in a major American city. It's going to fight our homelessness problem, and it's needed to be sure.

Seattle is infamous for their inefficient and/or ineffective is of funds.

So, since this proposal has a sunset...if the city doesn't prove they can take the money and put it to good use...the experement maybe over.

It was reached after a long battle between Seattle City Council members and a proposed $500 a head tax.

That proposal left Amazon holding off construction of a local building project, among other threats.

However, now after some more "tread lightly" rhetoric following the passing of The lighter proposal... they're continuing construction.

I love the cities willingness to experiment with these sort of things! Especially when it comes to something as important as fighting our homeless problem.

It's crazy to walk down in Seattle and see new buildings coming up with people in suits walking out, homeless shelters full only blocks away.
