It's almost like these mainstream news stations are not here to report the news, but are in actuality here to sell you -- with all-encompassing ceaseless coverage of the midterms -- on their political leaning, and the inherent danger of voting any other way. When did this become so blatant? No so long ago these channels still feigned impartiality, now they no longer even keep up appearances; each mainstream channel is 100% in the bag for one side of the two-party deception. How is that not alarming? How is that not suspect for those still caught up in the mainstream news cycle?

Both mainstream parties are controlled by plutocrats who benefit from the status quo and are only interested in their own power and profit. No matter who wins on Tuesday, the wars are guaranteed to continue, the oligarchs are guaranteed to keep siphoning more and more money out of the pockets of ordinary Americans, opaque and unaccountable intelligence agencies are guaranteed to continue expanding intrusive surveillance practices and narrative control psyops in collaboration with powerful Silicon Valley corporations, and we’re guaranteed to keep hurtling toward climate catastrophe on the back of an economic system which requires infinite growth on a finite planet.
It really isn’t some vaguely defined THEM who has undercut reality, it’s us. The problem is caused by our eagerness to purchase, consume, and wallow in counterfeit reality. The underlying cause of the preponderance of counterfeit reality is our reluctance to undertake the difficult task of understanding complex reality. We demand simplicity … and reality is seldom able to fill that order. The whole truth is seldom simple, and never easy.
During the decline of a previous culture, the Roman Emperor Nero supposedly fiddled while his city burned down around him so that he could deny the reality of the disaster. During a real fire, there are no medals reserved for those who successfully deny the need to put the fire out. The real heroes are those who acknowledge, confront, and help extinguish the flames.
