A man was named a Canadian shooting suspect

A man was named a suspect and charged with four counts of murder after two police officers and two civilians he shot dead in New Brunswik, Canada

Matthew Vincent Raymond, 48, was arrested shortly after his shooting, last Friday (08/10), which was the worst day for Canadian police in the past four years.

The two police officers, Constable Costello and Sara Burns, were shot after responding to reports of residents shooting that left two bodies lying in a yard.

45-year-old Constable Costello is the father of four and has been a police officer for 20 years. While 42-year-old Sar Burns has only joined the police for two years and has three children.

Halifax Police Chief Jean Michel Blais chanted expressions of condolence through his twitter account: "For the children of Sara Burns and Robb Costello, I hope you are peaceful and comfortable tonight."

In the incident, two people who were killed were Donald Adam Robichaud, 42 years, and Bobbie Lee Wright 32 years.

Robichaud's cousin, Sean Callahan, told Edmonton CityNews: "The man is very pleasant, it seems like I don't think anyone hates him."

Robichaud is the father of three children and a musician in several local bands.

Police did not provide full details about the incident but witnesses told the media that the incident began when the two policemen went to the four-story low-rise apartment complex on Brookside Drive, in the north of the city, on Friday morning (08/10) local time.

A series of shots were heard, witnesses said. The two police officers were shot dead.

The heavily armed police were then brought to the scene and several residents around the scene were taken to safety.

While others are ordered to stay in the house.

The suspect was later arrested in his flat.

The shooting was the worst incident for Canadian police since Justrin Bourque killed three officers in Moncton, New Brunswick in June 2014.

This incident occurred a few weeks after a man killed a woman and injured 13 other people in Toronto.

Canada does have a tighter gun control law than the US, but this incident sparked calls to tighten the regulation, by banning the use of pistols.

Moreover, murder using weapons in Canada in 2016 increased by 23% compared to the previous year.
