Storing data on the cloud is very convenient but raises security issues. In particular, a hacker who knows the username and password can access your data. While it is possible to use two-factor identification, the secure storage specialist iStorage has decided to go further.

Its new CloudAshur product is a USB key that contains a specialized circuit to encrypt data on the fly, with 256-bit keys, before storing them on the cloud.

The user defines a numerical password (7 to 15 digits) to enter on the key pad, a technology already used on the DatAshur Pro storage key.

In addition, the CloudAshur is waterproof (IP58 certification) and protected by an aluminum housing.

Encryption locally or on the Cloud

The key works with a program (macOS or Windows version) that communicates with online storage systems and works with all known offers (OneDrive, Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox, etc.).

In addition, the security level is high since files can only be decrypted if the person has the device and PIN code, as well as the program and cloud account login settings.

But encryption can also be done locally on the computer.

Finally, it is also possible to exchange keys with another user with a CloudAshur to transfer encrypted files by email or via a service such as WeTransfer.

The CloudAshur USB key will be available in August for 119 euros.

The same importance as Ledger Nano X if you want to secure your numeric life/assets!
