Should there be a 6th branch of the military? Space Force?

Could there be a 6th branch of the military? This question has been buzzing in the media for the past few days because Trump wont stop talking about a "Space Force" or should I say hinting.......

The air force has done most of the work in Space for the government. While NASA has done lots of good work, most of that work was for deep space exploration. The Air force gets a whopping 8.5 billion dollars for their space operations. This brings up a good question, Should the air force keep handling these space operations or should there be a new branch dedicated to space operations? Should we fund a new department? If so, how powerful could this new department become?

P.S this is a really short piece I just wanted to get people thinking about the future of our country and its role in space. I want to get some feedback in the comments this could actually happen.
