It was an under water earthquake in 2011 that caused the meltdown of the Fukushima-Daiichi disaster and this latest event could cause yet more radioactive material to leech into the water.

Obviously this is not contained to Japan and radiation levels on the California coast have risen and will continue to increase since the Fukushima incident and oceanic life is dying off and the soil is testing high for radioactive isotopes like Cesium.

A few years ago many people were very worried in the California quake which was close to the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant that is built right along THREE major fault lines.

It should be common sense that one would not build something so volatile and potentially detrimental to human life on land that can be the epicenter of a major earthquake. Why is this happening? And why are so many built on fault lines? The following article goes into the '8 most dangerous nuclear plants near earthquake fault lines' in the United States and around the world.

Oh dear, i do so hope the earthquake does not cause yet more disruption to japan or california. Thanks for sharing my thoughts go out to those people living in those areas.

Me too - What worries me is the broader implications for all the world if we aren't smarter about these sort of things. Many nuclear plants are running while beyond their planned lifespan after which there it begins to breakdown and makes it more vulnerable to disasters.
