Lieutenant Maxwell, Chief Security Officer of Starbase Genesis1, dashed frantically through the corridors of the Base directed towards the Commodore's private quarters. Beads of sweat dotted his forehead, as his thoughts raced trying to find solutions to the problems that occupied his mind. Reaching his destination, he tapped the console beside the door, and watched as the entrance zipped open. Maintaining his quick pace, he entered the quarters without greeting his leader.

• Commodore, we found a new planet!

Well good day to you as well, Lieutenant Maxwell! he said with a smile.

• Sorry, Sir! But we have a serious problem now!

Finding a new planet is far from being a problem.

• Sir, Jack Steel is on that new planet!

What?! What are saying, Lieutenant?! This better not be one of Captain Davis' pranks! For I don't this at all funny!

• No Commodore! This is serious, and it's real. We don't know if he's alive at this moment, but we are certain that he is on Starbase Genesis3.

How can this be possible? What do you know about the situation?

• When I heard about the new planet being discovered, I check the database to get some more information, and the logs show that our new colony has a Captain... Captain Jack Steel. Knowing that this could not be possible, I contacted Captain Dixon at Genesis2, and he looked into the matter. Apparently, Cadet Steel wanted to study the Explorer II, but had gone to the Shipyard while the shift was changing. He wasn't informed that the Explorer II that he was boarding was about to launch. We have video to confirm this, and Captain Dixon remembers the Cadet asking if he could go visit the Shipyard. Not long after our new planet was registered on the blockchain, so too was a Captain assigned to the Starbase. We have his biometrics to confirm this. Commodore, Jack Steel is alone on this alien planet! We have to help him!

Of course, Lieutenant! We need to send some ships, and a crew, to recover our Cadet, and take control of the Base.

• Sir, I would like to volunteer for the mission! And I would like to request that Cadet Steel be left on as our new Captain?!

I don't know, Lieutenant! Do you think he's ready for such a responsibility?

• Commodore, Jack's alone; in a very precarious situation. It's going to take some time before we reach him. If we find him alive, he's proven his abilities to adapt and survive. What else can you expect from a Captain? Besides, you have always said that you see leadership qualities in him.

This is true, but we'll be jumping him from a First Class Cadet to the Captain of a Starbase.

• I'll help him in the role of Commander. I have faith in Jack, Sir!

I agree, Lieutenant. Reluctantly, but I agree. You realize I'm losing a great Lieutenant, not to mention an excellent Chief Security Officer.

• You're not losing me, Commodore. I'll just be doing what I always do on another Starbase. Besides, don't look at what you may be losing; consider what we're all gaining.

You're right, son. I'm going to miss having you here. Do me a favor, give this to Captain Steel. Tell him it's another gift from me.

Commodore Curione walked over to his desk, opened the same drawer that he opened when Jack was with him to receive his first gift, and pulled out a new set of Captain's pips, handing them to the soon-to-be Commander under the guidance of Captain Jack Steel!
