It was probably in the way he smiled or his subtle chuckle
It was probably the way he looked at her or the sound of his deep voice that in her stomach caused the opaque butterfly rumble
Maybe it was the way she felt in his arms surrounded by his physique, safe from the world’s trouble
Or it was the smell of his mint breath and his instinctive aura that made her heart race to indubitable ends
Maybe it was his charm
Maybe it was his smile
Maybe it was the darn butterflies
Maybe it was the way her heart fluttered at every sight and mention of him
But it was definitely not in the bruises he left her with
No it wasn’t in the scars he landmarked on her body
It wasn’t in the fist that were ever so ready
It wasn’t in the black eye he gave her
It wasn’t in the harsh words he spat at her
It wasn’t even there in the anger she felt in his voice or the rage in his eyes
As she fell and felt something plunge into her
With blood splattered on her hands
And panic written all over his face
Therein she looked into his eyes to find solace or some type of peace
She tried to resolve in her head
It wasn’t his cruel words nor her black eye
It wasn’t his clenched fists or her fresh bruises
It certainly wasn’t from the acute pain she felt from the knife’s plunge with life slipping from her finger tip
But the fact that all these happened because of him
Because those words, bruises and pain came from him
“Why did it have to be you” she managed to say
even in death.. What baffled her the most was that in spite of all of this..
She knew deep down that she still loved him
So she shut her eyes surrounded by his physique and warm embrace
His mint breath and Cologne
His lovely eyes rid of their subtle glints
But right now it felt different
She didn’t need these grotesque walls anymore because now she knew trouble was from within.
