He was once the lead guitarist, singer and primary songwriter for the rock band the Velvet Underground and also had a solo career that spanned five decades. The Velvet Underground done little commercial success for the duration of their existence, but at the moment are regarded as one of the crucial influential bands in the history of underground and alternative rock tune.
