Now Playing Week 48 - My trhee favorite pianists in 2018

in #nowplaying5 years ago (edited)

During this year i heard a lot of music as usual. In this post I would like to share my three favorite pianist during this year, they are inspired me to write here in some moment aspects not discussed in this post.

Alfred Cortot (1877 - 1962) and "The Preludes Op 28". by Frederic Chopin, recording of 1933.

Cortot was a great pianist in his time. His recordings of Chopin are anthologies, a composer very played throughout his life. The greatest richness of his interpretations is the quality of his rubato, with perfect balance of the emotional content of the art, with approach of the elements intellectuals, culturals, stylistics, and technicals.

Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli (1920 - 1995) with "Piano Concerto in G major" by Maurice Ravel (1875 - 1937).

The first time I heard this concert was with the pianist Martha Argerich in a 2009 recording. However this is what I heard most during this year. Is more ancient, of 1982. Therefore I recommend listening with headphones. It's not an interpretation with big Rubattos. The coolest thing here is the direction of the phrases through the dynamics of the notes, and the strong pulse.

Daniel Barenboim (1942*) and the "Piano Concerto No. 5 in E flat Major Op. 73" by (1770 - 1827).

One more interpretation that conquered my mind and ears through the strong pulse. I love the recordings of Beethoven's sonatas in the hands of this pianist. In this video recorded in 2007, Barenboim plays and conduct. It's not just the firm pulse. It is also the ability of the interpreter, and orchestra to play all the notes in their proper places and to make the rhythmic aspect jump to the eyes. =D

Hope you enjoy =D

A great hug
