The hell of the living is not something that will be. If there is one, it is what is already here, the hell we live in every day, that we make by being together. There are two ways to escape suffering it. The first is easy for many: accept the hell, and become such a part of it that you can no longer see it. The second is risky and demands constant vigilance and apprehension: seek and learn to recognize who and what, in the midst of hell, are not hell, then make them endure, give them space.

Today I share my new watercolor dedicated to the famous book "the invisible cities"by Italo Calvino of which I am painting a series.

I represent a city, resting entirely on marshy ground.
The sky is the painted element that refers to the poetry of the great writer book, where dream and fantasy are the primary connotations.
The name is feminine like all the names of the cities that the traveler Marco Polo, the protagonist of the book, can be found in Kublai Kan.

During his story, Marco Polo invents, or refers to personal feelings and emotions his narration to the famous emperor of the Tartars.

Isaura is the city of a thousand water wells, where its inhabitants draw water from an underground lake using buckets.

A hidden, invisible side, the one represented by the lake that I highlighted.

Isaura is the city of two worlds, the visible one and the hidden one, in the underground, where the gods live.

I brought to light, highlighted by the yellow patches of sky, the concept of the divine, which pervades the entire flooded plain.

As in Freudian psychoanalysis, we seek in our unconscious to draw on hidden resources, memories, and roots.

In my watercolor the sky is the means to sink research into men, towards men.

Clouds play and move to the ground, seeking contact with men.

L’inferno dei viventi non è qualcosa che sarà; se ce n’è uno, è quello che è già qui, l’inferno che abitiamo tutti i giorni, che formiamo stando insieme. Due modi ci sono per non soffrirne. Il primo riesce facile a molti: accettare l’inferno e diventarne parte fino al punto di non vederlo più. Il secondo è rischioso ed esige attenzione e apprendimento continui: cercare e saper riconoscere chi e cosa, in mezzo all’inferno, non è inferno, e farlo durare, e dargli spazio.

Italo Calvino, Le città invisibili

Oggi condivido il mio nuovo acquarello dedicato al celebre libro "le città invisibili" di Italo Calvino, di cui sto dipingendo una serie.

Rappresento una città, poggiata interamente su un terreno acquitrinoso.
Il cielo è l'elemento dipinto che rimanda alla poetica del libro grande scrittore, dove il sogno e la fantasia sono le connotazioni primarie.
Il nome è al femminile come tutti i nomi delle città che il viaggiatore Marco polo, protagonista del libro, si trova a descrivere, a Kublai Kan.

Durante il suo racconto, Marco Polo inventa, o rinvia a sensazioni ed emozioni personali la sua narrazione al famoso imperatore dei Tartari.

Isaura è la città dai mille pozzi d'acqua, dove i suoi abitanti attingono l'acqua da un lago sotterraneo tramite dei secchi.

Un lato nascosto, invisibile, quello rappresentato dal lago che ho messo in evidenza.

Isaura è la città dei due mondi, quello visibile e quello nascosto, nel sottosuolo, dove vivono gli dei.

Ho portato alla luce, evidenziata dagli squarci di cielo giallo, il concetto del divino, che pervade tutta la pianura allagata.

Come nella psicanalisi Freudiana, cerchiamo nel nostro inconscio di attingere alle risorse nascoste, ai ricordi, tramite le radici.

Nel mio acquarello il cielo è il tramite per affondare la ricerca all'interno, verso gli uomini.

Le nuvole giocano e si muovono fino a terra, cercando un contatto con gli uomini.

Spero che il mio dipinto e la descrizione vi piaccia.

Un abbraccio dall'acqua, il tema a me caro.
