I made this photo last summer.
My parents' summer home has a vegetable garden. On warm days a lot of dragonflies arrive there. They catch blackflies above the bushes of tomatoes, and then they sit on tall posts and eat them. After dinner, the dragonflies continue to sit on the posts and bask in the sun.
It is rather difficult to approach dragonflies, because their huge eyes see everything around. To get a close-up shot, I use a macro lens. In this regard, in order to take a picture, I have to approach at a distance of 10 centimeters from the lens for a dragonfly.
To take such a picture, I have to slowly sneak up on a dragonfly by aiming a camera lens at it. Sometimes they are still scared and fly away. But sometimes I manage to take a close-up shot like this.

You closely closed up! Wow the color is so vivid. Microworld is so charming but hard to overview. Creature's apperance has a vital energy we do not know till we closely approach.
