Ballpen Art: Surma Woman
Hello Steemit Universe! I guess it's been a while. So during my break I stumble upon the Surma tribe of Ethiopia during my study so I decided to give do a drawing of them, I'll be posting others later. They are also called the Suri tribe. Interesting to know they are people who live without technology.
The Suri pride themselves on their scars and how many ther carry also piercing lips and lobes and having lip plates this is part of their culture. An interesting part is the fact that having a lip plate is a symbol of a female's beauty and the bigger the plate the more cattle the woman is worth for her dowry(bride price). The women also slice their skin with a razor blade known as decorative scarification. Surprising! Yeah
