[CR] To be inked...

First look at a sketch that I just completed.

The composition might’ve come to me yesterday but it still took me awhile to warm up. There was a lot of noise and activity going on around me which would snap me out of focus. Once I finally got into the zone then the image magically appeared and I felt somewhat baffled by my sketch speed. It’s amazing how quickly images can come together when the perfect conditions are met. This drawing will be set aside for the rest of the day and I’ll begin the inking process tomorrow.

It’s funny seeing these process gifs because I’d typically start the drawing with an eye and then build around it. Here, I’m actually mapping out the general shape of the head and placement of the hair. Normal for most, bizarre for me. I did a rough shade to areas of the face and hair so I wouldn’t forget what I’d like to black out with ink.
