This is not an empty field

As employee, you have to pass some psychological tests. One request is to crayon a tree. Depending on how you do it, some conclusions are drawn. Otherwise, I’d say that what you see when you look at a picture, says something about you too. I was thinking about that when someone looked at one of my pictures (posted on a social media network) and said she sees nothing there. It is true that there were neither people in it, nor something touching like, Oh my!, a beautiful flower or sunset. I went back to the picture and added a title: “This is not an empty field” – inspired, of course, from the tittle of the paining of Rene Magritte – La trahison des images (Ceci n’est pas une pipe).

I’ve presented the fields from the area where I grew up in so many pictures and posts. I didn’t explain the viewer what to see there. Maybe I’ll come to a point where my pictures will be so good that I don’t have to explain, or maybe, sometimes, the cliché is true: “the beauty is into the eye of the beholder”. I like though, to hear comments, even not favorable - like the one above.

Surely, leaving beside the technique and equipment, your pictures tell most about you. Where do you like to hang out, what do you see while walking down the street or driving the car, if you like crowded places or not, what traveling means to you, what do you like to visit. Where the sun rise caught you, what makes you emotional. What lines tell you a story or what’s your favorite color. What you can’t express in words when you fell the need to push the button. Where do you sit down and rest, at shadow, when it’s a hot summer day. Where do you sit down and cry when sadness gets you.
