One Photo Every Day: 254/365, Shopping at Phochai market, ซื้อของที่ตลาดโพธิ์ชัย, the OPED project.

I am so glad it doesn’t rain this morning! The town seems more lively this week.

This weekend I should be working hard in the garden, but the sky looks very grey and cloudy. I have to stock up my food for the weekend, so we go straight to Phochai market. I have my fresh home made tofu, fresh farm eggs, some local Thai sweets for my gardener. I search for the lady who makes very good fried bananas and sweet potatoes. She is very glad to see her fan club!

Then, I couldn’t help buying some fish from the old lady. I know she overcharges me and I tell her to reduce the price. But she asks me for a favour! She has to get these fish from the fisherman by the river and pay for her petrol including a fees for sitting in front of this shop! So I give her the whole amount!

On my way back to my tuk-tuk, I notice a crowd in front of a stall. This stall is selling very cheap second hand blue jeans and shirts; one piece costs 35 bahts, three pieces would cost 100 bahts. So, a pair of blue jean costs only one dollar!! No wonder these people are going crazy at this stall.

เข้าวันนี้เราตรงดิ่งไปตลาด เพราะท้องฟ้าทำทีท่าว่าฝนจะตกหนัก เราก็ได้เต้าหู้สด ไข่ไก่สด และ เดินหาคนที่ขายกล้วยและมันทอดจนเจอ เราเห็นหญิงชราคนหนึ่งนั่งขายปลาที่พื้นเราจึงช่วยซื้อ แต่เธอบอกราคาสูงมากกว่าปกติ เราก็บอกให้ลดราคาลงมา เธอขอกำไรหน่อยเพราะว่าต้องไปซื้อปลาจากชาวประมง ที่ริมแม่นํ้าและต้องเสียค่าน้ำมันรถเพื่อเดินทาง กับจ่ายค่าเช่าที่นั่งขายหน้าร้านด้วย เราก็เลยให้ไปตามที่เขาขอ เขาได้ปลามาไม่กี่กิโล คงได้กำไรไม่ถึงห้าร้อยบาท ตอนเดินกลับไปเห็นคนกำลังมุงดูร้านหนึ่ง เขากำลังแย่งกันซื้อกางเกงยีนตัวละ 35 บาท หรือ สามตัวร้อยบาท! มีเสื้อแขนยาวด้วย คนขายดูมีความสุขมากที่ลูกค้าแน่นหน้าร้าน

เรารีบเข้าบ้านเพราะกลัวฝนตกหนักกลางทาง พอมาถึง แม่แมวจำได้ก็ออกมาร้องเรียกลั่นบ้านเลย คนสวนเอามะม่วงที่เก็บได้มาวางให้บนโต๊ะ ฝนต้องตกหนักแน่วันนี้ ท้องฟ้ามีแต่เมฆดำ ทางฝั่งลาวดูเหมือนฝนตกแล้ว
