1. W B Yeats

W B Yeats was an Irish poet who is considered as one of the foremost figures of twentieth century literature.

He was the founder of Abbey Theatre and his works include The Wanderins of the Oisin and Other Poems, in the Seven Woods, The Wild Swans at Coole, The Tower.

In 1923, he was honoured with Nobel Prize in Literature for his overall literary works.

Yeats also worked as an Irish senator and worked for Irish Free State.

2. Don Budge

Don Budge was an American tennis player who was world number 1 for first 5 years.

He is the only player to win all 4 grandslams in a calendar year and second male player to win all 4 grandslams.

He won 6 grandslam singles titles, 4 grandslam doubles titles and 4 grandslam mixed doubles titles.

He was inducted into International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1964.

3. John Forbes Nash Jr.

John Forbes Nash Jr. was an American mathematician who made contributions to differential geometry, game theory and study of partial differential equations.

His theories are mainly used in Economics and he is the only person to be awarded with Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences and Abel Prize.

Russel Crowe starrer movie A Beautiful Mind is in memory of Nash and incidentally it's his biography which inspired the film A Beautiful Mind.

4. Luis Walter Alvarez

Luis Walter Alvarez was an American experimental physicist, inventor and professor who is regarded as one of the greatest and most brilliant experimental physicists of 20th.

He worked for Ernest Lawrence at the Radiation Laboratory at University of California and was involved in the design of liquid hydrogen bubble chamber.

He was honoured with Nobel Prize in Physics in 1968 and his other awards include Medal of Merit, National Medal of Science to name a few and he was a member of Fellow of the American Physical Society, member of National Academy of Science and has been inducted into National Inventors Hall of Fame.

He along with his son Walter Alvarez (a geologist) worked on the Dinosaur extinction.

5. Paavo Nurmi

Paavo Nurmi was a Finnish middle distance and long distance runner who was nicknamed as Flying Finn as he was a dominant force in distance running in early twentieth century.

He set as many as 22 official world records and was a winner of 9 gold medals and 3 silver medals in Olympics.

He was undefeated for 121 under race category of 800m and 1500 metres.

Nurmi had been inducted into International Association of Athletics Federation Hall of Fame.
