El Vals Venezolano: “Pluma y Lira”

Bienvenidos a disfrutar del Vals Venezolano.
Agradecidos a todos por permitirme compartir con ustedes, una vez más, parte de nuestra identidad venezolana a través de un género muy popular en todo el mundo como lo es el Vals.
En este caso, se trata de un Vals compuesto por un compositor venezolano muy afamado como lo fuera Telesforo Jaimes (1874-1905). El Vals en referencia es nada más y nada menos que “Pluma y Lira”. Este Vals, junto con otro del mismo autor y titulado “El campo está florido” son dos de las composiciones más reconocidas de este prolífico músico.
En cuanto a este compositor, hoy día sigue siendo motivo de discusión el lugar de su nacimiento. Muchos coinciden que este compositor nació en los llanos venezolanos y algunos creen que este hecho ocurrió en Palmarito, otros en Barinas y otros más dicen que nació en Guasdualito. Lo que sí es cierto es que este músico venezolano fue uno de esos arreadores de ganado que llega aproximadamente para 1890 a San Cristóbal, y llega justamente a la zona de La Sabana, la preferida para salir a pasear a caballo; esto es lo que reseñaban algunos diarios tachirenses al hablar de este autor de valses y bambucos que son hoy clásicos de nuestra música tradicional-popular.
Siendo esto así, algunos otros aseveran con vehemencia que, Telesforo Jaimes es Tachirense porque vivió casi toda su vida en el Estado Táchira: allí se crio, se educó, trabajó y allí murió. En San Cristóbal desarrolló Telésforo Jaimes su fructífera labor de músico polifacético, que fue al mismo tiempo autor académico, compositor popular y ejecutante de los instrumentos musicales típicos de la región andina, entre ellos, el violín. Allí dejó la dualidad de su inspiración, expresada de manera firme en la alegría de sus joropos y en la romántica fluidez de sus valses, tal como lo podemos apreciar en esta versión de “Pluma y Lira”.
En esta oportunidad, en el vals podemos apreciar cierto aire llanero y, al mismo tiempo, la calmada y tranquila textura andina por la melodiosa y melancólica melodía que se consigue a través de la expresividad del violín.

Welcome to enjoy the Venezuelan Waltz.
Thank you all for allowing me to share with you, once again, part of our Venezuelan identity through a very popular genre throughout the world as is the Waltz.
In this case, it is a Vals composed by a Venezuelan composer very famous as it was Telesforo Jaimes (1874-1905). The Waltz in reference is nothing more and nothing less than "Pluma y Lira". This Vals, together with another from the same author and entitled "The field is flowery" are two of the most recognized compositions of this prolific musician.
As for this composer, the place of his birth is still a matter of discussion today. Many agree that this composer was born in the Venezuelan plains and some believe that this happened in Palmarito, others in Barinas and others say he was born in Guasdualito. What is certain is that this Venezuelan musician was one of those cattle herders who arrives approximately in 1890 to San Cristóbal, and arrives just at the area of La Sabana, the favorite to go for a horseback ride; this is what some tachirenian newspapers mentioned when talking about this author of waltzes and bambucos that are now classics of our traditional-popular music.
This being so, some others assert with vehemence that, Telesforo Jaimes is Tachirense because he lived most of his life in Tachira State: there he was raised, educated, worked and died there. In San Cristóbal, Telésforo Jaimes developed his fruitful work as a multifaceted musician, who was at the same time academic author, popular composer and performer of the typical musical instruments of the Andean region, including the violin. There he left the duality of his inspiration, expressed firmly in the joy of his joropos and in the romantic fluidity of his waltzes, as we can see in this version of "Pluma y Lira".
In this opportunity, in the waltz we can appreciate a certain llanero air and, at the same time, the calm and calm Andean texture by the melodious and melancholy melody that is achieved through the expressivity of the violin.
