Steemit Open Mic Week 84 - J. S. Bach - Bourrée BWV 996

in #openmic6 years ago (edited)

Hello steemit friends, it is my participation on steemit open mic week 84.

Today I share with you this "Bourrée" of BWV 996 suite, composed by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750), in a version extracted from the method "Initiation to the Guitar vol1", wrote by Henrique Pinto (1941 - 2010), and published by Ricordi Publisher of Brazil.

The acronym BWV means "Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis", that is, "Catalog of the Works of Bach", in German. The BWV numbers were defined by Wolfgang Schmieder in 1950, universally accepted as the standard way of numbering the works.

Schmieder's catalog follows a thematic organization. First are listed the choral works, then the pieces for organ, then other works for keyboard and so on. According to this numbering, a low BWV does not necessarily mean an older work.
