Sex, Passion, Desire, Open to Your Bliss

We are our physical body and we are more than our physical body. Energy moves through our bodies and through the universe around us. As we remove blockages that disconnect us from this universal energy we open to the bliss we are, to more comfort in our bodies and better sex.

Opening to our bliss from a Taoist Perspective.

The ancient Taoists offered a nuanced understanding of our overall life energy and sexual energy that reflects the balance of giving and receiving qi. They believed that there are 3 main divisions of qi within the body. Our sexual energy, jing qi, is part of the first division, called principal energy. Principle energy forms from the forces of heaven and earth and is planted in our bodies from the love and sexual union of our parents. We are born with plentiful amounts of principle energy, which is one of the reasons children are so active. Our principal energy is connected to our sexual organs and is the basic sustaining force in our bodies. It is depleted through life. The second division of qi is the vital energy that circulates in our bodies and supplies energy for our organs, called qi. The secret of Taoist practices is that you can transform your sexual energy into qi and increase your vitality, increasing your passion, desire, radiance and health.
The third major division of qi is spiritual energy, or shen. When our qi is plentiful and our minds and emotions clear our qi is transformed into spiritual energy. Sexual energy is transformed into qi, which is then transformed into spiritual energy, shen. Opening us to our God/Goddess nature through sex.

As we live, we fuel our bodies from qi sources all around us: relationships, nature, nutritious food, satisfying work, creativity, spiritual practices, love, affection, and especially lovemaking(with yourself or your lover). Whenever we are not nourished by sources that give us qi, our bodies are forced to draw energy from our principal energy, which means we are draining our life force energy reserves. Doing things in life that excite us, give us energy and joy, and help us feel love.
What things in your life excite you and help you feel joy and love? How much time do you spend in a week doing these activities? How much time do you spend doing activities that drain your energy? How much stress are you experiencing? What would your life look like to put down some that stress? If we don't nourish ourselves with love, good food, and creative juice, we end up draining our principal energy.

Many of us push ourselves past our sustainable level to recharge and end up consuming our principal energy, our life force energy. When we do this we often experience chronic illness, sleep disturbance, depression and lack of interest in sex Heart connected sex actually builds our life force energy!!! To stop draining our life force energy and connection to sexual bliss, we need to increase our qi by nurturing ourselves: taking time to love, play, create, and care for our spirits.

When you are charged with your own joy, you are able to give to the world in a much more profound way. Your ability to care for yourself will change throughout your lifetime however it is absolutely never to late to honour your own needs. Taking time to self-nurture contributes to a greater capacity for sexual desire.

Sexual energy itself can, increase our principal energy. Sex is actually an amazing tool to replenish our principal energy. By transforming your sexual energy into qi through Taoist practices you can replenish your life force energy. By cultivating your passion you can increase your life force energy, therefore replenishing your overall health and vitality. The only other energetic force that can increase your principal energy is the vital force of real love and compassion. When we combine sexual energy and love we have the most potent force for healing and happiness that we as humans have access to.
