Weekly Sample Portfolio Update - Week 19
Hi Steemians,
here is my weekly sample portfolio update for Friday, May 10th 2019.
This week we had a wild ride.
Just take a look at a chart of the SPX and the VIX and you know what I'm talking about.

Now let's have a look at my sample portfolio.
Closing SPY Classic Put Diagonal
On Thursday, April 25th 2019, I bought this diagonal for a debit of $1.70.
On Monday, May 6th 2019, I closed it for a profit of 42 cents ($42 per one lot).
New SPY Aggressive Short Delta Strangle and its Closing
On Tuesday, May 7th 2019, I sold an aggressive short delta strangle for a credit of $8.12. , since I always add this strategy to my portfolio when the VIX pops. It gives you short deltas and has a built in vega hedge (more on this strategy in my second book).
On Thursday, May 9th 2019, I closed it for a profit of $1.20 ($120 per one lot).
New SPY Call Ratio Spread and its Closing
On Tuesday, May 7th 2019, I sold this ratio spread for a credit of $1.75.
On Thursday, May 9th 2019, I closed it for a profit of $1.34 ($134 per one lot).
XOP June Straddle
My overall credit for this position is $2.48.
My profit target for this position is 50 cents.
So I'm going to close this position, when it trades for $1.98 or at 21 DTE.
At the moment this position is down 10 cents ($10 per one lot).
IWM June Strangle
On Monday, April 22nd, 2019 I sold this strangle for a credit of $3.13.
My profit target for this position is $1.50.
So I'm going to close this position, when it trades for $1.63 or at 21 DTE.
At the moment this position is up 80 cents ($80 per one lot).
IWM June Short Straddle
Since implied volatility was so high this week, I added another 153 June straddle to this position.
My overall credit for this position is now $7.97.
At the moment this position is down 84 cents ($84 per one lot).
QQQ June Covered Put
My basis of this position is now $163.32.
At the moment I'm down $24.99 ($2,499).
So I have a lot of puts to sell against this position, until I'm back to even.
TLT June Strangle
On Wednesday, April 24th 2019, I sold this strangle for a credit of $1.45.
My profit target for this position is 70 cents.
So I'm going to close this position, when it trades for 75 cents or at 21 DTE.
At the moment this position is up 26 cents ($26 per one lot).
SPY June Straddle
Since implied volatility was so high, I sold an additional SPY June Straddle on Friday, May 10th 2019.
My overall credit for this short straddle is now $11.09.
At the moment this position is down $1.08 ($108 per one lot).
GLD June Strangle
On Tuesday, April 23rd 2019, I sold this strangle for a credit of $1.55.
My profit target for this position is 70 cents.
So I'm going to close this position, when it trades for 85 cents or at 21 DTE.
At the moment this position is up 41 cents ($41 per one lot).
FXE June Straddle
On Thursday, April 25th 2019, I sold this straddle for a credit of $2.10.
My profit target for this position is 40 cents.
So I'm going to close this position, when it trades for $1.70 or at 21 DTE.
At the moment this position is up 19 cents ($19 per one lot).
New QQQ June 30 Delta Strangle
On Thursday, May 9th 2019, I sold this strangle for a credit of $5.58.
My profit target for this position is 2.58.
So I'm going to close this position, when it trades for $3 or at 21 DTE.
At the moment this position is up $1.39 ($139 per one lot).
New SPY June Aggressive Short Delta Strangle
On Friday, May 10th 2019, the sell off continued throughout the morning and I was losing my short deltas, so I sold this aggressive short delta strangle for a credit of $8.22.
My profit target for this position is 2.85.
So I'm going to close this position, when it trades for $5.37 or at 21 DTE.
At the moment this position is down 95 cents ($95 per one lot).
I had a great week, lots of new trades and profits and my losers also came back nicely.
Now I'm hoping for an inside week and a big vol crush.
Let's see if it works out...
