Kleros : A quicker and cheaper way to solve disputes

Disagreements are bond to occur between individuals and organizations even when there is an agreement or contract on ground already, no matter how careful those involved are, since we all reason differently and as the saying goes, common sense is not common.

In order for peace to reign, whenever there are disputes which involves business men or corporations, if they are not able to settle it amicably themselves, the right thing to do would be to take the matter to court, an action which could waste time and also be very expensive.

With Kleros, which is a platform where selected juries which are professionals handle different types of disputes just like the ancient Greeks settle their issues, is against waste of time while solving issues in court, issues of corruption and spending a lot of money especially by people that can’t really afford it would become a thing of the past as it has a system that not only guarantees fairness, also reduces the cost associated with dispute resolution.

This would indeed be a great benefit to individuals, small firms and large corporations. It would definitely change the way businessmen and individuals deal with issues they can’t solve on their own.

There are different types of disputes which can be solved by Kleros. They include those which involves software developments, contracts execution, website designing , desktop publishing and others. The members of the jury which would be selected at random would be professionals and they would be selected based on their expertise in their particular field.
They would be the ones to critically scrutinize the contract and the evidence between the parties involved in the dispute and decide the party which is right.

It should be noted that the mediators would be compensated in a fair way such that the businessmen or company involved would not lose a lot of money in the process, unlike in the case where the dispute is carried to the normal law court.

This would really benefit start up businesses and small firms that don’t have a lot of funds at their disposal. It should be noted that a lot of small businesses have folded up after they landed in court over a dispute. It would equally prevent large corporations from spending a lot of time in the normal courts or even getting their reputation ruined if the final vote is not in their favour.

At the end of the day, it would be a win- win situation for everyone as the decision of who is right or wrong would be decided without waste of time or corruption as evident in the normal court because in Kleros, honesty is a priority, and while deciding the party that is right, the selected members of the jury would vote, and those that are not honest with their selection would be penalized.
