Aids
I did a short post about PORN by Bijl a while ago this has the same general idea. AIDS is an art work by General Idea. Hehe. General Idea is an art collective consisting of three Canadians: Partz, Zontal and Bronson. It is part of of permanent collection at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
AIDS like PORN is a play on the LOVE sculptures. But this artwork focuses on the strange relation between love and aids that existed in the 80s. Love gave birth to aids, like the artwork LOVE gave birth to AIDS. At that time there was no control on the aids epidemic so aids had the same uncontrollable emotion that defines 80s love.
As a final note, this art work is the embodiment of the artists themselves since two members of General Idea have died of Aids.
