The Mystery of The Bible - 7 (Holiness 4)

I stopped at Colossians 3:4 and I will continue with verse 5. In this verse, there are keywords which I promised to pick and talk about one after the other. The first on the list is fornication.

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry..... Colossians 3: 5

Fornication

There is a lot to say about fornication but I will just try to make it short. The meaning of fornication is sexual intercourse between a man and a woman that is not yet married. This is common these days where there are boyfriends and girlfriends here and there.
Once you have not married a person then you don't have the right to have sex with the person. It is a sin and most importantly a sin against your own body.

"Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. Don't you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself." - 1 Corinthians 6:18–19

Our body is where God dwells and once it is corrupt, the Spirit of God will not be able to stay in there. Sexual sin affects the body, mind, and soul more than any other sin.

"Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body." - 1 Corinthians 6:13

We should make our body a living sacrifice unto God just like the Book of Romans 12:1 says. Do not be tempted to fornicate; resist it as you can do so. The temptation is very common as it is the instrument of the devil for him to be able to capture you but once you resist it, you have overcome.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. - 1 corinthian 10:13

Apart from the possibility of getting diseases/viruses through sexual intercourse, it is an instrument for the devil to create more problems into such a person's life. How? Sex on its own is a covenant of sharing a life. So when you have sex with someone, you are sharing your life and everything included spiritually.
You are sharing your problem and blessing so as well you are accepting a problem of that person and the blessing. There are so many things to say about this but this is not the time to say it.
The main point here is that fornication is a sin and you such not do it.

If you have been fornicating then it is time for you to stop and never go back into it. God is merciful to accept you back unto His side. Decide today, control your body, and be saved.

"God's will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor." - 1 Thessalonians 4:3–4.
