That's a tough one. As a community that is supposed to support its members, it makes clear sense to SUPPORT ALL, but...we are human and there is a limit to how much each can support. We like what we like. In a diverse community such as PALnet, we should make a conscious effort to support everyone, despite bias. But humans are far from perfect.

I agree, humans are far from perfect. The difference is we have the ability to reflect and change the way we do things. I'm here to encourage reflection.

Since it really isn't possible to vote on everyone equally and fairly, the only logical thing to do is to vote on the things that you personally like. Bias is not bad, bias is human. It's normal, it's important to how a people function, and it has helped us to reach the state we have as a species.

Not everyone is created equal. Participation trophies don't help anyone learn, or improve.

If they want to earn someone's vote, they need to do something that someone likes or wants to support.

i tend to agree. At the same time, I find politics a divisive tool that is used to favor one segment of the population over another. In time it leads to resentment as certain groups gain power while others feel ignored, and the deciding factors are power and money. It discourages participation. So the question arises are we voting personally? Or politically?

'Personally' can and generally will be lead by politics. Politics are just a matter of like-minded people getting together. If they are the group that has majority, they will see their efforts succeed more than others.

If a specific group or segment tends towards what I resonate with or favor, they will get my support.

Not all groups are equal, not all groups are the same. If the others feel ignored, they can choose to either adjust or change to meet some requirement they think they don't currently meet, or they can accept the status quo where they are.

There isn't any requirement to spread support outside one's own bias, just because some might think it more fair.

Fair enough. I believe in supporting everyone, regardless of their talents, personality, limitations or lack thereof. I will continue to do so, because that is who I am.

However I like the third option, Many people are unlikely to form a natural talent that is not already present to meet some criteria others deem worthy. Nor should people accept the status quo, ever, in my opinion. Both options are defeatist because they are reliant on other peoples opinions or favor. If things are to change the only way to do it is through awareness, peaceful communication and holding to ones values despite opposition.

Sure, but why should anyone have to change for something. Those that you see as being biased have every right to continue to be that way.

Your bias is to try and spread support or wealth to everyone, which is fine. You are allowed that bias, but that doesn't make it superior. Just different.

In the end -

Someone who doesn't get any support from a community isn't being oppressed, they just aren't being supported.

Expecting change from, or trying to enact change in a group of people doing as they please however, is oppressing them.

You may want to see a change, but it isn't your right to expect it of anyone not willing to do it of their own volition.

we have the ability to reflect and change

I'm here to ask for and encourage reflection.

we have the ability to reflect and change

I'm here to ask for and encourage reflection.

That sounds a lot like you are hoping for, or asking for, change.

hope is not expectation.

I finally understood what you were saying here. sometimes i get the feeling that people think I understand what they are saying and i'm just being arbitrary. when the truth is, I really don't. And I get so frustrated. I feel stupid and hurt and humiliated, and I don't think anyone gets that.

Congratulations! This post has been upvoted from the communal account, @minnowsupport, by torico from the Minnow Support Project. It's a witness project run by aggroed, ausbitbank, teamsteem, theprophet0, someguy123, neoxian, followbtcnews, and netuoso. The goal is to help Steemit grow by supporting Minnows. Please find us at the Peace, Abundance, and Liberty Network (PALnet) Discord Channel. It's a completely public and open space to all members of the Steemit community who voluntarily choose to be there.

If you would like to delegate to the Minnow Support Project you can do so by clicking on the following links: 50SP, 100SP, 250SP, 500SP, 1000SP, 5000SP.
Be sure to leave at least 50SP undelegated on your account.

Ideally each sub niche could be supported by each other within themselves, under an umbrella of peace, abundance and liberty. This can encourage echo-chambers, so we could have a leave-your-niche-wednesday party or something.

In many ways, PAL already does this. Our curation teams are split into category types, so that curators from each are looking at content that fits their own bias.

We provide channels for many different groups or geographic regions so that they can find like-minded people inside the greater community.

Just sharing my new Playlist... Peace!
